Edna Essien

Edna is a qualified Solicitor of England and Wales and has 16 years experience in data privacy and data protection and is currently Director, Data Protection and Technology Compliance. APAC at Scotiabank in Singapore. Prior to that role, she was Senior Global Privacy Counsel at Standard Chartered Bank, Singapore. She also worked at Accenture, UK and advised on Global Data privacy matters as part of the Data Privacy Compliance Team as well as spending 2 years negotiating and leading IT, consulting and outsourcing contracts as part of the UK contracting team and internationally. 
Edna was also previously responsible for data privacy within Centrica Telecommunications Ltd. a large telecommunications provider. Prior to Centrica, she also advised on the company and commercial matter for Nexen, a Canadian oil and gas exploration and production company. She is an expert in global Data Protection and data privacy laws/regulations. Edna holds the CIPP Foundation & Europe certifications in data privacy and the ISEB qualification in data protection.
