Dr Yildirim is a European Patent Attorney who is also specialized in IP management and patent intelligence. He obtained his PhD in medical sciences at Karolinska Institutet in 2005 with specialization in analytical-organic chemistry and biochemistry applied in vaccine research. The turn of his career path towards working as a patent professional took place in 2007 when he became patent examiner at the Swedish Intellectual Property Office (PRV). He performed search and examination in organic chemistry and biotechnology and further functioned as expert in freedom-to-operate (FTO) consultancy services. He started working as a patent attorney in 2012 and was employed at top three IP-consultancy firms in Sweden up until 2018 when he decided to switch to the client side and took up work as patent attorney at Tobii which has a large portfolio in the field of eye-tracking, machine learning and computer implemented inventions. His main focus at Tobii was IP harvesting, patent prosecution and FTO.

Since January 2020, Dr Yildirim has been working as the Head of IP at Xbrane and has (i) devised and implemented Xbrane’s IP policy, (ii) drafted, filed and prosecuted patent applications, (iii) managed oppositions, (iv) held internal courses on patentability and FTO, (v) conducted FTO searches and prepared infringement assessments, and (vi) involved in pre-litigation and litigation strategies. Furthermore, Dr Yildirim is an experienced seminar holder and has held presentations at several international conferences and has been a guest lecturer in FTO at the department of law at the Stockholm University since 2013.
