Associate General Counsel, Intellectual Property EMEA including India, Australia Trane Technologies

Leigh Outten is currently Associate General Counsel, Intellectual Property and Regulatory Compliance for Trane Technologies International, Ltd., a global leader in sustainable engineering and decarbonization for homes, buildings, and transportation. She is based in Brussels and responsible for the management and development of the intellectual property in Europe, Middle East, India, Africa, Australia & New Zealand. She advises the business on intellectual property and regulatory matters for the region. She is an American and a European Patent Attorney, as well as a Solicitor of England and Wales. She speaks, in addition to her native language of English, German, French and basic Flemish. Prior to joining Trane Technologies, Leigh worked at adidas AG in Herzogenaurach, Germany as Senior Patent Counsel. She gained patent experience at the Intellectual Property Boutiques Leydig, Voit & Mayer and Darby & Darby in Frankfurt, Germany. She also worked in the United States at National Labs Y-12, Knolls Atomic Power Lab, and Los Alamos, and she gained manufacturing experience at General Motors and GE Aircraft Engines. Leigh studied at MIT, Cambridge University, the University of Tennessee, and Collège des Ingénieurs. She sits on the Cambridge Society of Brussels Committee, she is treasurer for the London Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and she is an active member of Holy Trinity Brussels and serves as its Bar Manager. She lives in Brussels, Belgium.
