3:10 PM CASE STUDY: Encouraging Indigenous Procurement for the Inland Rail: Recognising Opportunities from the NSW Aboriginal Land Council
The NSW Aboriginal Land Council is committed to ensuring a better future for Indigenous communities by establishing opportunities for employment and economic growth in the community, as well as protection and preservation of culture, identify and heritage. The Inland Rail will present potential growth and opportunities for Indigenous regions and the NSW ALC continue to advocate on behalf of the councils to be engaged with the progress of the Inland Rail and how it can positively impact the Aboriginal community.
- The NSW ALC’s role in taking leadership and representation to encourage clear visibility on the employment opportunities and investment opportunities for Indigenous workforces in local councils
- The importance of preservation and protection of Indigenous culture for infrastructure projects, and how the ALC is engaging with the ARTC and other various stakeholders to deliver on commitments
- Encouraging councils to step up and engage in local consultative meetings to understand the long term benefits and opportunities of the Inland Rail for Indigenous communities
