Heather G. Childs is Chief Trust and Security Officer at Uber. She started at the company in spring of 2019 as Uber’s Global Head of Payments. Ms. Childs joined Uber from Capital One where she was Vice President of operational risk and compliance.
Prior to that, Ms. Childs spent over ten years at the United States Department of Justice where she was most recently Associate Deputy Attorney General and Chief of Staff to Sally Yates. In that role, she was involved in all facets of the Department’s work, including its law enforcement agencies, national security arm, its prosecutorial and litigating components, and the Department’s various grant-making and legal counsel offices.
Ms. Childs began her career as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Middle District of Tennessee where she prosecuted a wide range of cases. In 2010, she moved to Washington, DC and joined the Criminal Division before moving to the Deputy Attorney General’s office. From 2011 to 2012, she was detailed to The White House under President Barack Obama.
Prior to joining the Department of Justice, Ms. Childs received her A.B. in History and Government from Harvard University and her J.D. from New York University School of Law, and clerked on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
