Sarah spent 16 years in the civil service working in key roles to tackle serious organised crime and protect children, including leading the Online Child Sexual Abuse Threat (CEOP) at the National Crime Agency and co-chairing the Virtual Global Taskforce. Sarah recently moved over to Ofcom to head up child sexual abuse (CSA) policy, Triage and law enforcement engagement, as part of Ofcom’s new responsibilities under the Online Safety Act. Sarah led the development of a number of measures to protect children from online CSA, which are currently out for consultation and will form part of the first illegal harms code of practice to regulate online services.
A key element of the Online Safety Act is reinforcing regulations for reporting CSA. This panel will bring together experts from law enforcement agencies, child protection organizations, and technology companies to discuss the challenges and opportunities associated with CSA reporting and response. Delving into the
effectiveness of current reporting mechanisms, explore the role of technology in enhancing reporting capabilities, and examine the importance of collaboration between different stakeholders in addressing this complex issue.
