Stephen McLeod Blythe is a lawyer and tech policy expert from Glasgow, in Scotland. For the past eleven years he has worked to try and make the web a better place at Automattic - the people behind WordPress.com, Tumblr, and more. He previously served as Course Co-Ordinator for the Internet Law & Policy LLM. at the University of Strathclyde, and was also granted the status of ‘Visiting Scholar' in 2020. Currently Head of Legal Process, and Senior Lead within Trust & Safety at Automattic, he has a wealth of practical experience in dealing with the emerging challenges faced by platforms, but is also fiercely passionate about freedom of expression, and known for being outspoken on topics such as user rights and transparency.
