Jim is responsible for sustainability programs at The Open Group, including market development for the Open Footprint Forum standards initiative, as well as development of their internal sustainability plan. The Open Footprint Forum is creating standards to ease data management issues associated with scope 1/2/3 greenhouse gas emissions reporting. The Open Footprint Forum standards will mitigate risks associated with emissions reporting, as well as unlocking value associated with climate and emissions decision making.
In previous roles at The Open Group Jim was responsible for incubating and launching new standards initiatives such as the Open Footprint Forum, the OSDU Forum, and the Open Process Automation Forum, managing the business development team, and directing their security standards portfolio including the Open FAIR cyber risk quantification program.
An emissions data model which effectively stores accurate data on emissions, material, and energy consumption is essential for mandatory compliance reporting and meeting transparency demands. Over 900 organizations have utilized the OFP model to create a centralized and holistic view of their emissions enabling AI and advanced analytics to be incorporated to create intelligent insights on levers to lower emissions. This session will explore the uses of this model.
