Susan Nash

Director of Innovation and Emerging Science / Technology AAPG

Main Conference Day 2 - October 9, 2025

10:10 AM Emissions AI: Monitoring, Detecting, Reporting, and Forecasting Emissions Data

In this session Susan will access specific cases of how different types of AI including generative AI with Large Language Models, and Machine Learning, have been used to detect and eliminate methane and other greenhouse gas emissions, including:

  • Use Case One: Evaluating a service company's software package that uses historical and current measurements of oil and gas operations to analyze and forecast emissions
  • Use Case Two: Examining Chevron's blueprint for reducing methane emissions in the Permian Basin and the areas where Machine Learning and Deep Learning have been used
  • Use Case Three: Examples of how generative AI is being used for repurposing data sets for future needs
