Stefan Erents joined Enersea BV as senior technical consultant in July 2016. Since 2017 he has been supporting Sif Group as contracted engineering manager in several execution and tendering projects as well as R&D projects. Stefan has a Bachelor’s degree in automotive engineering and he started his career in 1997 working for companies like DAF-trucks, Volkswagen AG and Corus Steel (nowadays Tata Steel), focussing on design and engineering as well as material research and optimal material use related to structural and crash-resistance applications. Later on also working in more commercial roles as account manager for a Finite Element Software company and as head of engineering and pre-sales departments at some smaller companies in the automotive industry. After 11 years of working in the automotive industry Stefan switched to the offshore industry in 2008 and started working for engineering company KCI. First as project engineer (learning the new industry and trade) and through the years moving up the ranks to business unit manager renewables at KCI. Projects that Stefan worked on at KCI involved the design of cable lay vessel deck layouts, monopiles and jackets for foundations of wind turbines and topsides, and the design of topsides themselves. In 2014 Stefan joined Van Oord as Engineering manager for the Gemini project and after that was completed worked on other projects, tenders and R&D developments at Van Oord offshore wind. In 2016 Stefan moved to Enersea BV, working as senior technical consultant for offshore engineering projects, with focus on renewables and offshore wind in particular. He has worked as contracted engineer manager for 3SF, a joint venture between companies Sif and Smulders for the design and build scope for the foundations of the Triton Knoll windfarm and ever since kept supporting Sif with several engineering management support activities for tenders, conceptual and execution projects, and R&D projects. Next to this, within Enersea Stefan is project manager and senior engineer working on several projects varying from owners engineering for projects in Europe and Asia, new wind turbine concept development, primary & secondary steel design work for offshore wind projects, and design and engineering of installation equipment for the offshore wind industry. Stefan assists Michel Kurstjens from Sif Group (the initiator of “Skybox”) and KCI as in-house engineering company for Sif, with engineering management activities and general technical consultancy, using his 25 years of experience gained from working in the automotive and the offshore wind industry.
