With Graduates expecting high quality access to work integrated learning, universities and industry must adapt to student needs in order to increase employability outcomes. There is clearly a gap between what employers are expecting and what universities are providing, with the number of graduates finding full-time employment, within four months of finishing their degrees falling from a high of 85.2% in 2008 to 72.9% in 2018. For some degrees, however, the rate is as low as 52.2 per cent.
With this in mind, the Graduate Employability Summit has been developed to discuss strategies to respond to skills shortages and changes in the labor market through industry engagement programs, graduate employability focused curriculums and vocational education training pathways.
