Genton was engaged to design and collaborate on a Master Plan that re-interpreted the former Phillip Morris cigarette factory buildings into a vibrant commercial and hospitality precinct. The 50 000sqm site has been transformed from a collection of warehouses into premium office spaces, modern eateries and contemporary amenities. Emphasis was also placed in ensuring the $100 million refurbishment respected the heritage character of the buildings by enhancing the facades of each structure. In this session, Steven will discuss:
Exploring the challenges of refurbishing eight existing buildings that operated as one facility into different suites and office spaces
Attracting more than just tenants: Breaking down the site’s isolation and increase activation by also refurbishing the space around the buildings
Future planning: Utilising Morris Moor as an example of why refurbishments present an opportunity to support development and growth of precincts in the long term
